PINS!

17. February 2009 by Stephen Christiansen 0 Comments

Quick update on one my family's favorite activities when we visit Disney World (or visit Woodfield Mall, the local home of "Doorway to Dreams")... and that's PIN TRADING!

On our first trip to Disney World we saw the pins, we saw people trading pins, and in general we had read a bit about the mania revolving around Disney pins - but we had steered clear for the majority of the trip until one of the last days. We were attending a Disney "Grand Gathering" event with our neighbors, and we were all given a commemorative pin in honor of the occasion. Yeah... right... Disney was offering a sample of crack... and we took it and within hours became insanely addicted.

Somewhere out there, I'm sure a similiarly addicted attorney is working on a class action lawsuit...

Anyhow, several trips later we all have huge pin boards (well, not so much me... I just have a few favorites) and we all have our special "niche" when it comes down to characters or events.

My son, Derek... he loves Donald Duck.

Which is a pretty good character to be collecting. Quite a few... but still very specific.

My daughter, Sydney, collects Dumbo, Chip and Dale, and most recently a set of the alphabet that Disney is releasing.

My wife Lora, however... she's all over the map. Lately, she's all about the Cheshire Cat and has a strong Jiminy Cricket affinity, but any type of interesting pin is fair game.

Now I know you're all wondering... what floats Steve's boat? I'm a simple man with simple pin needs... I like Mickey, classic style, rockin' it old school.

So thank you for taking a little pin tour with me... it's a really fun, but very hard habit to break. More details on the next post on how it all works.
